A 59.90kg Yellowfin on 24kg line captured by Gary Willshire fishing aboard Mahi Mahi, took out the 15th annual Yellowfin Tournament run by the Batemans Bay Game Fishing Club last weekend.
Gary won the major prize of a trip for two to Broome where he’ll fish for sailfish on a renowned game fishing charter boat.
The 2nd Heaviest Yellowfin, 45.30kg on 24kg, was caught by Karl Retter, fishing on board Time Share.
Young Jack Bollard, also on Time Share, won the Heaviest Yellowfin by a Junior, with a 36.40kg yellowfin on 15kg line, following a two hour battle to capture the fish.
Most Yellowfin Tagged and Released by a Team went to the Lexie team after tagging five yellowfin.
The Vida team won the 2nd Most Yellowfin Tagged and Released by a Team.
Donna Walker aboard Lexie, won the trophy for Most Yellowfin Tagged and Released by a Lady.
The trophy for Most Yellowfin Tagged and Released by a Team on Day 1 went to Vida on a countback from Tequila.
The Lexie team took out the Most Yellowfin Tagged and Released by a Team on Day 2.
One hundred and forty anglers competed in the 15th annual Yellowfin Tournament in good sea conditions and all enjoyed the two social nights at the Catalina Country Club.
