More than 500 volunteers turned out for a free concert to thank local volunteers at the Bowling Club on Sunday night.
Pat Jeffs, a prolific volunteer herself, organised the night to pay tribute during the International Year of the Volunteers to the thousands of local residents who give freely of their time.
Concert-goers were treated to a feast of entertainment from the Bay Theatre Players, with a series of skits and sketches that ranged from hilarious to spectacular.
Some of the younger singers were particularly appreciated by the crowd.
Member for Eden-Monaro, Gary Nairn made a presentation to 13 ‘special’ volunteers – a certificate from the Government recognising their outstanding contribution to voluntary organisations. The recipients were Maree Dillon, Shirley Chambers, Cliff Evans, Carole Withers-Hill, Anne Jackson, Pat Mahoney, Joan Cook, Thelma Wrightson, Cynthia Hill, Peggy Neilsen, Mabel Ladmore, Ted Aust, Margaret Aitken and Patt Jeffs.
• The concert was proudly supported by the Bay Post/Southern Star and Prime Television.
