THE Soccer season started on the weekend.
The U10s were first up with a lot of new players and the first time Bega has fielded a team in this age group.
It was good to see them all so excited; they played Mallacoota and started well with Bega’s James Whitford scoring in the first minute of the game. The game settled down and it was an up and down affair. The final score being Bega 2 and Mallacoota 1. The three girls Lorinda, Amy and Sophie played well, Luke, Liam and Adam also played a good game with James Whitford scoring both of Bega’s goals.
The U11s also played Mallacoota with a lot of players missing and a few U10s playing up, this ended up a good win to Bega 2 to 0. Simon Jones scoring both goals, Josh, Jason and Kirsty played well for Bega. Thanks to Liam, James and Adam for filling in.
The U13s started the season with a loss to Mallacoota 4 to Bega 1, with a bit more team work and practice they should get better as the season goes on. Josh, Matt and Warren played well for Bega.
The Under 13s Red started with a good win over Mallacoota 8 to 1, with a lot of new players and a few away this was a good start. Adam 4, Daniel 2, Renee 1 and Ryan 1 scored the goals. Thanks to Renee, Blake, Karl and Warren for filling in.
U15 Whites played Merimbula White at Bemboka. They have a bit of work to do and a commitment to training and they should improve as the season goes on.
The Ladies were short a player for there game against Merimbula Green so thanks to the girls who played up. The Ladies played well having a narrow loss 5 to 3. With a few players back next week and a lot more turning up to training things should improve for the ladies.
Well it has taken two long years but Bega All-Age had a win over Mallacoota 7 to 0. Daniel Blacka got his first ever goal for Bega to start them off, to the shock of the crowd and his team mates Daniel got his second goal, shortly after taking Bega to a 2-0 lead.
With Mallacoota playing short with only nine players, Bega took control with goals being scored by Arron, Luke, David Towers, Dave Gage, J and Daniel 2.
So let’s hope this form will continue for the season and we might see Bega in the finals.
All the teams played well, but there is room for improvement, more team understanding and passes going to the right players would help.
