WORK has started on the replacement of more than two kilometres of water reticulation main in the Beauty Point area.

Bega Valley Shire Council’s asset management and programming team manager, Mr Jim Walter, said the work was being carried out by a local contractor, RD Miller, and would take between eight and 12 weeks to complete.

Mr Walter said the improvements would help boost water pressure in the Beauty Point area.

He said they would also ensure consistent water pressure all year round – even during the peak holiday season.

Council administrator, Mr Rod Calvert, resolved last month to award the contract to RD Miller.

Mr Walter said the work would be carried out along Wallaga Lake Road between Beauty Point and Wallaga Lake Heights.

Any interruption to service would only be minor.

The pipes used for replacement will include 1565 metres of 150mm class 12 UPVC, 160 metres of 100mm class 12 UPVC, 735 metres of 20mm copper services and 140 metres of under-road bores for services.

For more information about the project phone Mr Walter on 6499-2281 or 0428 489 010.
